The Meaning of HuniWhisp

"Huni" (pronounced hoo-nee) comes from the Cebuano language of the Philippines, where it means "whisper" or "murmur" — a soft sound meant only for those close enough to hear. We chose this name because it captures the essence of what this platform is about: sharing your thoughts, reflections, and stories in a space where your voice can be heard without being exposed. Like a whisper carried by the wind, your words reach the people who need to hear them while your identity remains your own.

What is HuniWhisp?

Huni is a platform where people can share their thoughts, reflections, stories, and opinions — either anonymously or publicly. Whether it is something you have been carrying, an unpopular opinion, a workplace rant, or a heartfelt love story, Huni gives you a safe space to let it out without judgment. Posts can be made fully anonymous or tied to your username — you decide how much of yourself you want to reveal, toggling anonymity on or off per post.

Always Shipping 🚀

HuniWhisp improves week after week — new features, safety upgrades, and quality-of-life touches land all the time. See what changed this week, jump straight to a guide for each new feature, and tell us what you'd like next on the What's New page.

Core Features

📂
CategoriesHunis are organized into categories like Romance, Office, School, Politics, Hot Takes, Secrets, Funny, and more. Browse by category to find stories that resonate with you.
🏷
TagsPosts can be tagged with labels such as NSFW, Trigger Warning, Spoiler, and more. Tags help users filter content and make informed decisions about what they want to read.
🖼
Image UploadsAttach images to your hunis to add visual context to your diaries, stories, and reviews. Images are stored securely and can be included with both anonymous and public posts.
🎨
Post CoversGive a post a nice header without uploading anything — add an optional decorative gradient cover from a curated, first-party set. If you attach your own image, that always shows instead. Free for everyone, on web and mobile.
🙈
Spoiler and Blur TextHide sensitive parts of your post behind a spoiler or blur overlay. Readers choose whether to reveal the hidden content, giving you control over how your story unfolds.
Growing TogetherInvite friends with your personal link, code, or QR — from the Invites tab of your dashboard, your profile, or the Invite friends page. When a friend joins through your invite, you both get a thank-you: 7 days of Premium for you, 3 days for them, and 50 loyalty points each, granted automatically at sign-up. The QR downloads in high resolution and prints, so a link works just as well on a screen, in a video, or on paper.
🕰️
Huni Time Capsule™Write a private note to a later version of yourself, choose how far ahead it travels — a month out to five years — and seal it with Huni Coins. Once sealed it cannot be opened, edited, or cancelled, not even by you, until its delivery date arrives and it unlocks on its own. Only the title shows while it waits. Private to you and encrypted the whole time.
🤝
Sponsor a Stranger™Spend your coins on somebody else: gift a month of Huni Plus to a random active member, or to the author of a post that moved you. It is double-blind by design — they learn only that a stranger sponsored them, and you learn only that it landed. No names, no thanks owed. Never offered on Huni Haven or support posts, which stay free of money features.
🎨
Huni MarketplaceOur storefront for cosmetic extras, opening with profile themes: an accent, a banner gradient, and a soft card tint that dress up your own profile page — never the site-wide light/dark theme. Four themes are free for everyone, the rest cost coins and are yours permanently once unlocked. Purely cosmetic: nothing here touches ranking, reach, or moderation.

Discovery & Quick Tour

🧭
DiscoveryEvery category arranged by what's trending. Tap the 🧭 pill on /home to swap the feed for a two-section directory — Special places (Haven, Diaries, Aspirations) and Topics — sorted by what the community is engaging with right now.
📱
Quick Tour for mobile usersNew on mobile? A short Quick Tour walks you through posting, reacting, and finding your favourite spaces — available right from the welcome modal and via an in-app nudge for signed-in mobile users. Skip it any time.

Audio & Video Posts

Sometimes a voice or a moving picture says more than text. Audio and video live in the spaces built for them — Huni Stories, Huni Diaries, and the Huni Voices audio category — while regular posts stay text and images for a calmer feed. How much you can upload — and how long your clips can be — depends on your premium membership tier: higher tiers unlock more and longer uploads. You can always share without media if you prefer to keep it simple.

Huni Voices 🎙️

A voice-first space for posts you'd rather say than write. A Huni Voices post is an audio clip — recorded on the spot or uploaded — with an optional text caption. Tone, hesitation, and feeling carry in a voice the way text never quite manages, and the same anonymity, moderation, and report tools apply as everywhere else. One thing to remember: a voice can be recognisable, so if anonymity matters to you, keep identifying details out of the recording.

Aspirations and Goals

Huni is not just about journaling — it is also a place to share your aspirations and goals. Create timeline journeys that document your progress, milestones, and personal growth over time. Whether you are tracking a fitness journey, a career change, or a personal challenge, the aspirations feature lets you build a visual narrative of where you have been and where you are going. Follow others' journeys for inspiration and encouragement.

Huni Reviews Coming soon

A dedicated section where users share honest reviews about products and services they have used. Reviews are ranked by popularity and can be boosted through sponsorships. Whether it is a gadget, a restaurant, a subscription service, or anything else, Huni Reviews gives you candid opinions from real users — anonymous or not.

Huni Bookworms

A dedicated space for book lovers to share honest reviews about everything literary. Post your hot takes on bestsellers, share your guilty-pleasure reads, write reviews under a pen name, or debate opinions about beloved books. Bookworms brings the same anonymous honesty Huni is known for to the world of reading and literature.

Identity Reveal System

Curiosity about who wrote an anonymous post? Huni's Identity Reveal system lets users request the identity of anonymous authors. The author — the "Revealer" — can accept or decline entirely at their discretion. If both parties agree, they sign a legally binding NDA before any social media links are shared for verification. This system balances curiosity with privacy, giving the Revealer full control and legal protection through the NDA.

A request can also carry a Huni Reveal Offer™ — Huni Coins or a donation attached to the ask. The money never buys the identity: the author sees the same request with the same two buttons, and declining costs both sides nothing — a declined, cancelled, or expired offer refunds in full, fee included. Only when the author freely accepts does the offer go through, to the author, minus the platform's standard transaction fee. Offers are for verified adults on both sides, and receiving them can be switched off entirely in your profile settings.

Reveal Mode — your name, on your terms

When you write a confession, aspiration, diary, or story, the composer asks how you'd like your name to appear. You have four choices, and the right one depends on the post:

  • Anonymous — the default. The post carries no username at all. Best for anything you wouldn't want a coworker, family member, or future you to trace back.
  • Show username — the post carries your username from the moment it goes live. Use this when you want credit, or when the post simply isn't sensitive.
  • Scheduled reveal — the post starts anonymous and your username appears on a date you choose. Good for slow-burn stories, “I'll tell you in a year” posts, and time-locked reveals.
  • Threshold reveal — the post starts anonymous and your username appears once the post hits a reaction count you set. Good for “reveal if this gets X hearts” posts.

Each option has a small ? tooltip next to it in the composer so you can read what it means before you pick. You can always switch a post to Anonymous later, but you cannot un-reveal a post once it has been attributed — that's the trade-off, and the composer says so plainly.

Editing Your Own Posts

You can edit a confession, aspiration, diary, or story you wrote for up to 24 hours after it's published — tap the Edit button on the post and you'll land on a familiar editor where you can rework the title, body, tags, and category. Edits are quietly logged so the community can trust that nothing is rewritten weeks later to change what was said. After the 24-hour window closes, the post is locked in — the words are part of the record.

Reveal Yourself

Anonymity is the default, but if you ever want to step forward, you can. The Reveal Yourself feature lets you voluntarily share chosen details about yourself — on a post, inside a group or forum, or on your profile. You decide exactly what to share (for example your first name, last name, full name, or birth date) and to whom: publicly to everyone, only your username, or just a few select users. We never ask for and never reveal your address or anything that could put you at risk.

The community can also ask you to reveal something through a poll — but a poll never exposes anyone automatically. The author always confirms first; if you don't want to reveal, nothing is shared. When you do share something sensitive (like a legal name) with only select users, those recipients must agree to a Non-Disclosure Agreement before they receive it — anyone who doesn't agree simply doesn't get the information.

And a name you've stepped forward with stays protected: a dedicated name & copyright claim report lane guards revealed names, pen names, and brand identities against impersonation and username squatting, handled at the same priority as harassment reports.

Verified-Person FrameworkComing soon

An entirely opt-in way to verify your phone number, age, or legal name — for members who want a verified footing behind their pseudonym. Verified details will be encrypted at rest, never public by default, shared only at your discretion, and never sold. Verification will never be required to use HuniWhisp — anonymity stays the default, always.

Exclusive Groups

Create or join private groups with like-minded people. Group owners can set screening questions for join requests, make groups invite-only, and control who sees the content inside. Groups support their own Q&A sections where members can ask and answer questions within the community. Whether it is a support group, a fan community, or a professional network, Exclusive Groups give you a private space within Huni. We're expanding Groups with richer rules, fair enforcement, and member voting — described just below.

For Organizations & SchoolsComing soon

A verified school, club, or community organization can run its own HuniWhisp space — the same idea as a popular school confessions page on other platforms, but built properly: a verified institutional account represents the school or organization (not a random student), and members can drop in anonymous submissions that wait in a moderation inbox until one of the organization's admins reviews and publishes them. Posts the organization makes itself are signed, never anonymous, so the community knows official notices come from the institution.

Submissions can be free-text or use one of HuniWhisp's community templates — numbered confession, crush, birthday greeting, lost & found, event announcement, study-buddy request, recommendation, or general — so a submitter just fills in the blanks and the post lands in the inbox in the right shape. Numbered confessions auto-count per organization, so the school's first published confession becomes “#1”, the next “#2”, and so on.

A moderation assistant sits next to every pending submission and shows the safety scanner's verdict in plain colour-coded language — green is a clean approve, amber suggests editing before publishing, red recommends rejection, and active threats are flagged for HuniWhisp staff to handle. The organization's admins still make the final call; the assistant just removes the guesswork. Dangerous content is filtered out before it ever reaches the inbox so the people reviewing don't have to wade through it.

For Organizations & BusinessesComing soon

A verified organization will be able to open a private, company-only space where its people share honest feedback, ideas, and quick pulse-survey answers anonymously — anonymous to coworkers and to the employer alike, while still protected by HuniWhisp's safety tools. Leaders see only aggregate trends, never who said what, can run anonymous surveys and leadership Q&A, and invite staff by code without ever learning which person used which code. It's built for honest workplace voice without the fear — not a way for an employer to identify anyone.

Neighborhood SpacesComing soon

Area-level spaces — a district or town, never a street or an address — where locals share what a place is really like. At launch this is preview-first: curious outsiders and people considering a move can see a general, aggregated “vibe” (things like walkability or how lively it is), with no precise locations and no targeting of any individual or business. The opt-in member space follows only once our location-safety protections are fully in place — safety comes before open posting.

Group Rules & Member VotingComing soon

Groups are getting real governance: clear, numbered rules you agree to when you join; fair leader tools to enforce them (warn, mute, or remove a post from the group) that never touch your account-wide standing; and member voting, where the community can propose and vote on what a group allows, pins, or changes. A few core rules — no doxxing, no targeting minors — are locked and can never be voted away.

Direct Messaging

Connect with other users through our encrypted messaging system. Direct messages are encrypted (AES-256-GCM at rest), and for safety, legal compliance, and moderation, authorized staff may review message content — with every such access written to an audit log. Start a conversation from any huni or user profile — whether you want to offer support, share a thought, or just connect.

Your inbox stays yours: the first message from someone who isn't your friend arrives as a message request you can accept, decline, or report before the conversation opens, and blocking is enforced both ways — a blocked account can't message you and you can't message them, until you lift the block. Crisis-flagged messages page trained staff in real time, with the content itself staying sealed (staff see the flag's category, never the text).

Enhanced Reactions and Credibility Voting

Go beyond simple likes. React to hunis with a variety of emoji reactions, and participate in credibility voting to share your take on a confession. Vote whether a huni is Believable, Plausible, or Made Up. Credibility votes are a community-driven tool that lets readers express their opinion on the authenticity of a post. These votes are purely crowd sentiment and are not a fact-checking mechanism.

The reaction palette now includes a Curious emote (🤔) alongside the existing believable / heart / fire / clap / laugh / relatable / sad / angry / care set. Curious is the “tell me more” reaction — tap it when a post leaves you wanting to know more rather than agreeing or disagreeing. Hover or long-press any reaction on a comment to see a short description of what each emote means, so the palette stays readable as it grows.

Comments carry the same toolkit on every post type — emoji reactions, threaded replies, editing, and reporting work identically whether you're on a confession, an aspiration, a diary, or a story. And when a post has photos, video, or audio attached, you can aim your comment at one specific media item: pick the item in the comment box and your comment shows a small “about photo #2”-style chip that anyone can tap to jump straight to the exact photo or clip you meant.

The misinformation toolkit travels with the post, too:

  • The credibility meter and community notes (reader-written context that others rate as helpful) now appear on aspirations as well as confessions, Q&As, stories, reviews, and bookworms — the same tools wherever you open a post.
  • Link-safety badges on links in comments work everywhere as well.
  • A set of at-a-glance trust signals rounds out the kit: a three-color community consensus bar on post cards (community votes, shown once a post has 5+ votes), curated Source check chips on shared links rating the publication behind a link, the most-helpful community note pinned right under the post when readers rate it up, proof chips for media the author marks as their receipts (marked by the poster — not verified by us), and a one-tap heads-up before sharing posts the community or our safety checks have called into question — it informs, it never blocks. Every signal is context beside the post, never censorship of it.
  • Diaries are the one exception: a diary is a personal journal rather than a claim to weigh up, so diary pages keep their own simpler toolkit for now.

Hobby & Occupation on Your Profile

You can optionally add a hobby and an occupation to your profile. Both are free-text and fully optional — pick from suggested values or write your own. Hobby helps the community surface posts and groups that overlap with how you spend your time; occupation unlocks occupation-gated groups for verified-but-anonymous professional spaces (for example a nurses-only support group). If a group requires a matching occupation, your profile occupation determines whether the join button is available — the gate is enforced on the server, not just in the UI. You can clear or change either field at any time from your dashboard.

Donations

Support the authors whose hunis resonate with you. The donation system allows you to send tips and contributions directly to huni authors as a way to show appreciation for their stories, advice, or reviews. Donations are part of Huni's in-app virtual economy and move as wallet balance. Wallet top-ups (via PayPal), Premium, and donations are available on the web; in the mobile apps you can buy one-time Huni Coin packs through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) and Google Play Billing (Android), while Premium, tips, donations, and Huni Reveal Offers™ remain web-only. Huni keeps a small platform fee on donations (reduced for premium members) to keep the service running. In-app balances have no cash value, and withdrawing a balance back out to a real-world account isn't offered yet; see the Terms (Sections 10 and 10a) for the details.

Huni Autographs™

Create a unique, collectible digital autograph — a handwritten-style signature that re-animates as it's drawn, on a paper template you pick, optionally carrying a short message, image, audio, or video. Each one a collector keeps is timestamped, cryptographically locked, and carries its own authenticity code. Anyone can request an autograph from anyone — it's open to all users, not just popular accounts. Authors can give an autograph away free, accept an optional tip (the collector picks the amount), or set a fixed price.

Huni Habits™

Huni Habits is a gentle, private way to keep a personal habit going. Name a habit, then mark it done each day with a one-tap check-in — your streak and a private heat-strip build up over time, visible only to you. Every day rolls over on the same shared clock (UTC), so a streak means the same thing for everyone.

You're never doing it alone: an anonymous solidarity lane shows how many people are working on the same kind of habit, and anyone can send a one-way “rooting for you” cheer — encouragement with no names, no replies, no pressure. And if a streak breaks, Huni Habits meets you with a fresh start, not a guilt-trip. It's a reflective keepsake for self-encouragement, not therapy or professional advice. You'll find Huni Habits — together with the weekly gratitude reflection — on your profile's Rituals tab.

Huni Games Room™

The Huni Games Room (at /games) is our daily play corner — quick, skill-and-social games you drop into once a day. Four to start, with more coming:

  • Six-Word Whisps — tell a true story about your life in exactly six words.
  • Two Truths, One Lie — post two truths and a lie; the community truth-votes which is the lie, and you reveal the answer the next day.
  • Riddle at Dusk — a nightly riddle, blurred until you guess it, with a solve-streak to keep going.
  • The Caption Circle — everyone captions the same daily image with one line secretly about their own life, measured by a “this is so real” meter.

Playing is always free. Wins and streaks earn badges and achievements, and some grant a small, daily-capped coin prize to your wallet (coin prizes are for members 18 and over). Coins are a virtual, no-cash-value balance you can optionally spend on Huni. The games are about skill and fun — never gambling — and every entry is safety-screened just like a post.

Huni Ads™ — Advertise With Us

Huni Ads is our self-serve advertising platform (at /advertise). Anyone can create a campaign to promote their content or business: pick an objective, target by region, age, gender, device, and category, choose CPC, CPM, or CPA bidding, and set daily and total budgets. Pricing is deliberately cheap — about a $1 minimum budget and a $0 review fee.

Ads are wallet-funded: you top up your Huni wallet on the web, your campaign reserves its budget, and delivery debits it — all computed server-side, so you only ever spend what you set. Campaign creation is web-only for now. Every campaign is reviewed by our team before it runs, and ads are never shown to members under 18.

Follow System

Follow individual users, groups, and specific hunis to stay updated on the content you care about. When you follow a user, their public posts appear in your personalized feed. Following a group keeps you notified of new posts and discussions. Following a specific huni alerts you to new comments and reactions.

Activity History

Your Profile's Activity tab is your own trail through HuniWhisp — not just what you've posted, but the posts you've seen, the ones you actually read, the ones you reacted to, and the ones you commented on, each behind its own filter. Finding “that post from last week” becomes a tap instead of a scroll-hunt. What you've merely seen or read stays private to you — it never appears on your public profile, even if you've chosen to share other parts of your activity.

Recommendations With a Local Flavor

Some discovery surfaces add a light local touch — think “Hot right now in your area 🔥” or “Spotted near you 👀” — based on the broad region your connection suggests, never a precise location. No GPS, no addresses, no tracking: just a coarse, country-level hint so what you see feels a little closer to home. Your region is never shown to other users and never attached to your posts. VPN users are always welcome and never restricted — you'll simply see a one-time note that recommendations follow the region your connection appears to come from, which may be your VPN's rather than your own.

  • Prefer to set it yourself? You can optionally add a region to your profile — your country, and if you like a state and city — at signup or later from your Account page, so local recommendations follow where you say you are instead of a connection guess. Privacy-first defaults apply: only your country can show on your public profile by default, state and city stay private until you toggle them on, and your exact location is never collected.

Notification System

Stay in the loop with a comprehensive notification system. Get notified about reactions, comments, new followers, group activity, direct messages, donation receipts, and more. Customize your notification preferences to control what you receive and how you receive it. Tap any notification — in the bell dropdown or on your inbox page — to mark it read and jump straight to the post or message it's about. A Clear all button is there too for when you want a fresh slate — it deletes every notification at once, not just marks them read.

If you've been away, we may send the occasional reminder — a push or a “while you were away” email summing up what's waiting for you (reactions, replies, new followers, messages). These are first-party only, frequency-capped, and easy to switch off per category in your settings or via your device and email controls. Under-18 members get reduced messaging — and direct messages are age-partitioned (the Huni Age Firewall™): under-18 members can only DM other under-18 members, adults can't DM minors in either direction, and an optional private date of birth keeps that accurate by rolling your account over automatically at 18. See the Terms (Section 12a) and Privacy Policy (Section 3b) for the details.

Power Users

Active and trusted members of the Huni community can earn Power User status. Power Users gain access to additional features and capabilities, recognizing their consistent and positive contributions to the platform.

Shoutouts

Sometimes a post, a person, or a whole group deserves to be lifted up. Shoutouts let you give a moment of public, positive recognition — to a single huni, to another user, to a group, or as a broadcast to the wider community. They're a way to say “this mattered” out loud, without flooding the feed. Each shoutout is timed: it shines for a while and then quietly steps aside, so recognition stays meaningful and the space never feels cluttered.

How many shoutouts you can give is tier-scaled — everyone gets a baseline, and premium members can give more. To keep them genuine, the strongest moments are also celebrated automatically: when a post or a comment earns real engagement — a post that crosses 15 reactions, or a comment that crosses 6 — an auto-shoutout can mark it, so the community's own warmth surfaces the things worth seeing.

Daily Motivation Quote

On the Overview tab of your dashboard, a small daily reflection card greets you with a single quote to sit with for the day. It's a quiet bit of inspiration, never a nag — and if it isn't for you, a hide toggle tucks it away for good. The quote is chosen deterministically per person, per day (keyed to you and the UTC date), so you and the quote stay paired for the whole day — the same calm note each time you check in, refreshed when a new day begins.

Safety & Protection System

Huni employs an advanced safety scanning system that monitors content for patterns indicating potential harm, distress, or criminal activity. When concerning patterns are detected, interactions are automatically suspended and escalated to our safety team for review. This system helps protect our community while preserving the privacy of normal conversations. All safety reviews are logged and auditable.

Harassment Shield™

When a pile-on starts — several accounts ganging up on one member at once — the Harassment Shield™ is one tap that consolidates the defending you've already been doing. Activating it gathers the accounts you have already blocked or already reported for harassment in the last 30 days (up to a fixed maximum), blocks them all (enforced both ways in messages), and auto-files reports for our team to review — so you don't have to work through them one at a time mid-storm. It doesn't detect who is piling on for you and never adds an account you haven't blocked or reported yourself.

Your profile keeps a shield list of the accounts you've shielded against — a record of your own protective action, never a platform verdict on anyone — and while the Shield is on, anyone you block afterwards joins it automatically. Activation also prepares a short announcement you can release whenever you choose (or never); releasing needs the Shield switched on, keeps one live announcement at a time, and is cooldown-limited. The text is screened by our safety scanner before it is published — illegal content is refused — then it goes out as a shoutout. See the Safety page for how to use it and the Terms (Section 14d) for the rules around it.

Reputation Lock™

Every account carries a Reputation Lock™ meter — a reputation signal that is locked to the account, not the username. Renaming never resets it, so nobody escapes their history by picking a new name. The meter is visible to other members and reflects moderation history, tenure, and community signals.

It's built to be repairable, never a life sentence: negative marks decay after about 90 days, and an account in good standing earns a good-standing credit every month. It's a platform-conduct signal only — never a statement about your real-world character or creditworthiness. Details live in the Terms (Section 13b).

When You Need Help Fast

Posts about self-harm or distress are never removed or punished for being a cry for help. They stay in the feed and also appear in Huni Haven, an opt-in support space with crisis resources pinned. Those resources show the right local hotlines and emergency number for your region — your location is only ever used to choose what to display, never to contact or dispatch anyone.

Two quiet, one-tap tools sit right alongside them:

  • Quick exit — instantly leave for a neutral website, with the page left out of your back-button history, for the moments when you need to hide the screen fast. It's always there, even when you're not signed in.
  • Trusted-contact quiet alert — save one trusted person's email, then send them a calm, one-tap check-in request. It goes only to the person you chose — never the police, and never an automatic dispatch — and can optionally include your approximate, city-level location so they can reach you. The email is stored encrypted, and you can edit or remove the contact at any time. HuniWhisp can't contact emergency services for you — if you're in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

See the Safety page for the full picture.

Moderation System

Authors can moderate comments on their own posts — blurring, editing, or deleting inappropriate comments. Authors can also appoint trusted moderators to help manage their content. Huni supports a 3-level ban system with full appeal capabilities. All moderation actions are logged in an audit trail for transparency.

A Huni Media Pass™ is decided the same way: an administrator reads each request and grants or declines it, and a finding a pass covers is still written into the moderation record every time — at the severity it would have carried anyway, and naming the pass that suppressed it. A pass changes what is done about a finding, never whether it is recorded.

Anonymous Admin Voice

When our team needs to speak officially — clarifying a rule, calming a thread, answering a question about how something works — an admin can choose to post or comment as Anonymous with a small 🛡️ HuniWhisp Admin badge attached. You know an official voice is speaking without learning which account is behind it.

  • Server-verified — the badge is a yes/no flag attached by our servers, never an identity, and it's refused for anyone who isn't actually an admin. It can't be faked.
  • Opt-in per post or comment — admins are community members too, and their own personal anonymous posts are never badged. The badge appears only when they deliberately choose to speak officially.
  • No badge, not official — anyone claiming to be staff without it should be treated as an impersonator and reported.

Live Huni Sessions Coming soon

Host real-time anonymous sessions where audiences can participate in discussions, storytelling, and Q&A. Sessions can be public, invite-only, or password-protected. As a host, you control who speaks and can moderate the conversation in real-time.

Multi-Language Support

Huni is available in 13 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Filipino (Tagalog), Cebuano, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Portuguese, Hindi, and Arabic. Switch languages from the header or your account settings. We're committed to making Huni accessible to communities worldwide.

Content Filtering and Safety

Huni employs intelligent content filtering including algospeak detection to identify attempts to circumvent filters using coded language or character substitutions. Our advanced safety scanning system monitors content for patterns indicating potential harm, distress, or criminal activity. Users can adjust their personal filter levels to control the type of content they see — from strict filtering to a more open experience. Combined with NSFW tags and spoiler/blur features, Huni gives you the tools to curate a comfortable browsing experience.

Images get one extra question: is this a photograph, or is it clearly a drawing, render, or game screenshot? Huni Depiction Sense™ never changes what the scanner found — it changes how certain the scanner has to be before we act on it. A clearly rendered image needs more certainty on gore and weapon findings — nudity is held to the same bar in every medium, drawn or photographed, with one exception: classical and fine art is not treated as explicit content unless the post it appears in sexualizes it. A photograph — or an image we can't tell apart from a photograph, which we treat as a photograph — needs less on weapons, and only weapons, so a photographed weapon is acted on sooner than a drawn one. Only an image the check can't place either way changes nothing at all, and that is also what happens if the check fails or comes back unreadable: it does nothing rather than guess. Every adjustment is clamped into a fixed band the platform sets per category, which the automated tuning is bound by too. It never applies to child safety, self-harm, hate symbols, or scam and phishing images — a drawn, animated, rendered, or AI-generated sexual depiction of a minor is treated exactly like a photograph of one, and the sensitive-content blur is not relaxed by any of this.

Some people have an honest reason to post imagery the scanner would otherwise quietly de-amplify — a games group posting screenshots, an art group posting figure studies, a history group posting archival photographs. Rather than loosening the rules for everyone, Huni Media Pass™ lets you ask: you explain what you need and why at /media-permissions, and an administrator grants it or turns it down. A group's owner or admin can ask on the group's behalf — and a group pass then applies to every member posting in that group, including members who never asked for it and may not know it exists. A pass covers three things at most — explicit sexual imagery, graphic violence or gore, and weapons — and every grant is scoped to what was asked for, carries an expiry the deciding administrator chooses (180 days is the default, not a ceiling), and can be revoked. It changes one flag: whether the categories it names get the post de-amplified — and that flag drives four things, so all four go with it (where the post ranks, the “Unverified” badge on the card, the warning before you share it, and whether link previews are suppressed). Every upload is still queued for screening, the sensitive-content blur is not lifted, a pass covering adult imagery forces the NSFW tag onto the post, child-safety and self-harm findings sit outside what any pass can cover, and a member we know to be under 18 never benefits from one. The full list of what a pass does not do is on the Safety page.

8 Color Themes

Personalize your Huni experience with 8 distinct color themes: Amber Noir (default), Mystic Violet, Midnight Rose, Ocean Depths, Emerald Shadow, Arctic Frost, Sunset Blaze, and Sakura Blossom. Each theme supports both dark and light modes. Your theme preference is saved to your account and persists across devices.

Mobile Apps

HuniWhisp runs as a mobile app and works fully in any browser at huniwhisp.com, which is responsive and optimized for phones and tablets.

You can also install HuniWhisp straight from your browser for quick home-screen access — no app store needed: in a supported browser, tap Install app when HuniWhisp offers it; on iPhone or iPad, tap Safari's Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. It opens full-screen, just like an app.

The mobile home feed now matches the web home feed feature for feature — Spotlight, the Daily Prompt, Momentary Hunis, Throwback, onboarding nudges, and the Discover lane all appear there too. A 44px Filter button opens a full-height bottom-sheet with the same sort options (Trending, Popular, Most Viewed, Most Discussed) and time ranges (All, Day, Week, Month, Year) you get on the web. On any post-listing surface, pull down from the top to refresh — a small touch-only gesture that respects your reduced-motion setting.

Privacy and Encryption

Your privacy matters to us. All personal user information — including emails, display names, and direct messages — is encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption at the application layer. User data is encrypted at rest. Anonymous posts cannot be traced back to your account by other users. Our safety scanning system operates alongside our encryption to protect the community while preserving privacy. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties.

Our automated safety scanner now also runs on direct messages between members — looking for the same serious patterns it catches on posts and comments (selling drugs, weapons trading, commercial-sex solicitation, human trafficking, threats of violence, self-harm signals, and predatory advances). It also flags money-begging (posts or messages soliciting cash from members) for review, and an obfuscation-resistant, multilingual slur filter guards usernames, display names, bios, posts, comments, and DMs — disguised spellings included. The DM scan reads the plaintext message before it's encrypted at rest, runs best-effort in the background, and never blocks you from sending. See the Safety page for the full picture.

To keep the counts you see honest, public stats — on profiles, leaderboards, and across the site — exclude admins and other operator accounts. A staff or operator profile won't show inflated numbers, because those accounts aren't counted in the first place.

Authority Evidence Vault

If something has happened that you want to take to a relevant authority — the police, a cybercrime unit, a domestic-violence agency, NCMEC, a school-safety office, or a mental-health crisis service — HuniWhisp gives you a private workspace to compile and lock the evidence for delivery. You pick the authority and jurisdiction, attach images, audio, video, PDFs, and a written statement, and write your own narrative timeline. When you finalize the report, every file and the statement are encrypted in your browser with a fresh AES-256-GCM key. You choose how the bundle can be unlocked — a printable QR code, a biometric via WebAuthn (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello), a passphrase, or any combination of those with a Shamir N-of-K threshold (for example QR and biometric, or 2-of-3 across all three).

The .huniwhisp-report bundle is downloadable so you can hand it over the way that suits you — in person, via the authority's own intake portal, or by a one-time share link. When the recipient opens the unlock page and presents their token(s), the bundle is decrypted in their browser, not on our servers. After you finalize, we don't hold the master key and we have no way to recover the contents on our own. See the Safety page for the full how-it-works and the Terms (Section 28e) for the contract around it.

At finalize there is also a single opt-in toggle: “Allow HuniWhisp admins to recover this report’s contents in an emergency.” It is off by default. If you leave it off, our archive only ever sees the report's metadata (status, recipient category, finalize date, file count) and the audit log — we cannot read what you put inside. If you turn it on, your browser also wraps an extra Shamir share to an offline super-admin keypair, which is the only path by which our staff could ever decrypt the report. Even then, admins have to clear five gates — account 2FA, a separate archive passphrase, a biometric step-up, a written reason recorded in the access log, and a 5-open-per-24h cap (with a two-admin co-sign required for anything beyond that) — and the decryption happens in the admin's browser, not on our servers. Every contents-open emails you the date, the reason text, and a link to the audit log. The choice you make at finalize is irreversible; if you change your mind, the only way to revoke admin access is to delete the report.

Offline Reading

Turn on offline reading in your Dashboard settings (it's off by default) and HuniWhisp saves a small number of recent public posts on your own device — you choose how many — so a dropped connection still leaves you something to read in a clearly marked, read-only “Saved for offline” section.

  • Encrypted on your device — saved posts are encrypted at rest with AES-GCM and never sit on the device in readable form.
  • Temporary by design — every cached copy hard-expires after 24 hours, even if the device stays offline, and the whole cache is purged and refreshed the moment you reconnect.
  • Public posts only — Momentary Hunis, private-group posts, and direct messages are never saved offline.

Huni of the Day

Every day, the most popular huni is highlighted as the Huni of the Day based on a scoring algorithm that factors in views, reactions, comments, and shares. There is also a Huni Review of the Day for the top product or service review. Browse top hunis by day, week, month, or year.

Social Media Linking

From Profile → Social you can link your X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, Discord, YouTube, or Twitch account: pick the platform and enter your username — the profile link is built for you — or paste your own https link on that platform's own domain (anything else is rejected for safety). Discord is username-only, since Discord has no public profile URLs, so it shows as a copyable handle — unless you add your own discord.gg invite link, which shows as a link like any other platform.

Linked accounts can appear on your public profile as a small “Elsewhere” row. That's yours to control: the “Show linked social accounts on my profile” toggle in Profile → Preferences is on by default, and switching it off hides them instantly. You can unlink any account at any time from the same tab. Linking is entirely optional and identity-revealing by nature — on an anonymity-first platform, connect a social account only if you are comfortable being findable there.

Words & Terms, Explained Simply

We try to avoid jargon, but a few words come up around privacy, safety, and our features. Here's what they mean in plain language — no tech background needed.

Privacy & safety words

Anonymous / Anonymity
Posting without your real name attached. On HuniWhisp you choose this per post — anonymous one moment, named the next.
Anonymous handle (pseudonym)
A fixed nickname like "anon-9F2K7X" that quietly links your own anonymous posts together — without telling anyone who you actually are.
Encryption
Scrambling information so only the right person can read it. Like a locked box only the holder of the key can open.
AES-256-GCM
The specific bank-grade recipe we use to scramble (encrypt) stored data such as your email and messages. The name is just the standard it follows.
Encryption at rest
Your messages and personal data are stored scrambled (AES-256-GCM) using a key our servers hold, so a stolen database is unreadable. It is not end-to-end: for safety and legal compliance, authorized staff can review DM content, and every such access is written to an audit log.
Encrypted "at rest"
Your data stays scrambled even while it’s just sitting on our servers, not only while it travels across the internet.
NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)
A promise not to share something. If you reveal private details to a chosen few, they must agree to an NDA before they can see it.
Doxxing
Posting someone’s private details (real name, home address, workplace) to expose or target them. Strictly banned here.
Swatting
Making a fake emergency call to send police to someone’s home as an attack. We block the precise-location sharing that makes it possible.
EXIF / GPS metadata
Hidden data tucked inside a photo file that can reveal where and when it was taken. We strip it from uploads so a picture can’t leak your location.
Algospeak
Coded spellings people use to sneak past filters (e.g. "unal!ve"). Our safety scanner is built to see through these tricks.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
A second login step — a one-time code — so that a stolen password alone isn’t enough to get into an account.
18+ gate
Anonymous features are for adults. We ask your age group and keep under-18 users out of the riskier surfaces. The web service is open to ages 13+ with under-18 protections; the iOS App Store rates the app 18+ for its mature, anonymous content, so installing the iOS app may be limited to 18+ accounts.
Quick exit
A one-tap button in crisis-support areas that instantly sends you to a neutral website and leaves the page out of your back-button history — so you can hide the screen fast.
SensitiveGate™
An all-ages sensitivity screen. Images showing self-harm, blood, or graphic content are blurred for everyone (whatever their age) and only show after you deliberately tap to reveal, with crisis support right on the screen. The post’s words stay visible — only the graphic image is held back — so a cry for help is still seen and supported. The most-graphic self-harm is removed from public feeds, and if it’s your post you get a supportive note pointing you to help, never a punishment.
Huni Age Firewall™
The age partition on direct messages: members under 18 can only DM other under-18 members — adults and minors can’t message each other in either direction, enforced on our servers. An optional private date of birth (never shown to anyone) keeps it accurate: your account rolls over to adult automatically on your 18th birthday.
Platform sweep
A scheduled safety pass that re-checks existing content and names against the rules — powered by a slur filter that sees through disguised spellings in multiple languages. Violations get actioned with a notice and an appeal path; a rule-breaking username is swapped for a neutral auto-generated one. Mistakes are fully reverted, with the strike voided and an apology.
Trusted-contact quiet alert
A person you choose ahead of time whom you can quietly alert with one tap to check in on you. The alert emails only that person — never the police, never an automatic dispatch — optionally with your approximate location.
Moderation
Reviewing posts and taking action on anything that breaks the rules — with a strike system and the right to appeal.
Accountable oversight
For safety, legal compliance, and moderation, staff can review content — including private groups, private diaries, and direct messages (which are encrypted at rest with a server-held key, not end-to-end) — but every access is written to an audit log, never silent. Some things stay off-limits to us by design: the sealed Authority Evidence Vault, private Huni Mirrors, and anonymous organization salary and survey data.
Biometric sign-in
An optional way to log in with your fingerprint or face (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello) on supported devices, when enabled. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your device — Huni only ever stores a public key, never your biometrics. Off by default, never replaces two-factor authentication, and you can remove a device anytime.

Feature & community words

Huni
Our word for a post — a diary entry, story, review, or thought. From the Cebuano word for "whisper".
Momentary Hunis
Posts you set to quietly disappear after a timer you choose — unless they’re kept: readers can vote to keep one, and the author or an admin can turn it into a permanent post before the timer ends. When the timer does run out the post is removed from the platform, not hidden, and nobody can get it back. We keep one encrypted moderator-only copy for 30 days so abuse posted in this format can still be acted on, then delete it — see Terms §23.
Post cover
An optional decorative gradient banner you can add to a post to give it a nicer header — a curated, first-party set built into the app, never an upload. It can’t depict a real photo or person, and if you attach your own image that shows instead. Free for everyone.
Credibility voting
Readers vote whether a post feels Believable, Plausible, or Made Up. It’s a crowd opinion meter — not a fact-check.
Reveal Yourself
A choice to voluntarily share chosen details about yourself (like a first name), to exactly who you pick. Always your call, never automatic.
Huni Habits
A private habit tracker: name a habit, tap once a day to check in, and build a streak that only you can see. An anonymous "solidarity lane" shows how many others are working on the same kind of habit, and you can send a one-way "rooting for you" cheer. A broken streak just starts fresh — no guilt. It’s a keepsake, not therapy.
Huni Autographs
Collectible digital signatures that re-animate as they’re drawn. Anyone can request one from anyone; authors can give them free, for an optional tip, or at a set price.
Streak freeze
A safety net for your daily streak. Miss a day and an available freeze is used automatically to protect your streak instead of resetting it — one freeze covers one missed day. You earn a freeze at every 7-day milestone (when your bank has room), and freezes share one bank of up to 3 with Streak Shields™, so one busy day won’t wipe a long run.
Streak Shield™
A shield for your daily check-in streak that tops up the same safety net as your earned freezes — shields and freezes share one bank, holding up to 3 at a time. Every member gets one shield free every 30 days — always, no tier required; it’s a standing commitment, because a missed day here earns recovery encouragement, not shame. Extras cost a few Huni Coins (a full bank refuses the purchase rather than charging you). A banked shield spends itself automatically the moment a missed day would break your streak.
Huni Games Room
Our daily play corner at /games — a handful of quick, skill-and-social games you can play once a day. Free to play; wins and streaks earn badges and (for 18+) small, daily-capped coin prizes. Skill and fun, never gambling.
Six-Word Whisps
A Huni Games Room game: tell a true story about your life in exactly six words. A daily micro-story challenge.
Two Truths, One Lie
A Huni Games Room game: post two true things and one lie about yourself. The community truth-votes which one is the lie, and you reveal the answer the next day.
Riddle at Dusk
A Huni Games Room game: a nightly riddle that stays blurred until you guess it. Solve it day after day to build a solve-streak.
The Caption Circle
A Huni Games Room game: everyone gets the same daily image and writes one caption secretly about their own life. A "this is so real" meter shows how much your caption resonated.
Huni coins (in games)
Small rewards some game wins or streaks grant (for players 18+), added to your in-app Huni wallet. Coins are a virtual balance with no cash value — you can optionally spend them on Huni; they are never real money.
Huni Ads
Our self-serve advertising platform at /advertise. Anyone can create a cheap (about $1 minimum) ad campaign, target it, set a budget, and fund it from their Huni wallet. Ads are reviewed before they run and are never shown to under-18s.
Huni Checklists
A checklist you can publish as its own post (or attach to a goal milestone) — tick-off items with a live progress bar. Only you can check items off; everyone else sees how far along you are.
Shareable anonymous profile (Huni Profile Share)
Your anonymous handle has its own shareable page and QR code. Sharing it shows only your handle and rough activity counts — never your real name, email, or identity. These pages stay out of search engines.
Visibility-aware sharing
When you share a post, the share respects its privacy: private, group-only, or anonymous posts can never turn into a public link-preview card or QR. Anonymous posts never carry your identity off the app.
Offline reading
An opt-in setting that keeps a few recent public posts on your device — encrypted — so you can re-read them with no connection. They’re deleted and refreshed the moment you’re back online; nothing is stored on our servers.
Organization space
A private space a verified company can open so its people can speak honestly and anonymously — built so even the employer can’t see who said what. (Coming soon.)
Neighborhood space
An area-level space (a district or town — never your street) where locals share what a place is like, and outsiders can peek at a general "vibe". (Coming soon, preview-first.)
Group governance
Letting a group set clear, easy-to-read rules and letting members vote on group decisions, instead of one person deciding everything. (Coming soon.)
Quorum
The minimum number of members who need to vote for a group vote to actually count.
k-anonymity
A privacy guardrail: a survey result is only shown once enough people have answered that no single person can be singled out.
Preview-only
A feature you can look at but not yet post into — how Neighborhoods will launch, so safety comes before open posting.
