Everyone lost their third place and nobody replaced it
Home is one place. Work or school is the second. The third one — the park bench, the arcade, the café where nobody minded you sitting for two hours — was where most casual friendship actually happened.
A lot of them quietly went away, and the replacement is a screen. Screens are good at contact and bad at proximity, and those are not the same thing.
