I absolutely hate it when people say they have daddy issues just because of a disagreement with their father, and that they've gone through domestic violence JUST BECAUSE THEY SAW THEIR PARENTS ARGUING. That's not what it is. Stop going online saying that you know what its like when you're completely misinterpreting those terms. Its extremely INSENSITIVE. Its infuriating to hear someone use that same label for a standard, non-violent parental argument or a moment of discipline. Especially since I've experienced it first hand. My dad used to be a horrible alcoholic, hell he cheated on my mom with 5 women at the same fucking time. I was exposed to domestic violence the moment I was born. Every time my mother would confront my father for his drinking problems and with the women he's talking with, he would beat my mother. It wasn't just regular misunderstandings like the usual arguments couples had, it would always end up with the plates shattered on the ground, make up sex, or my mother's bloodied face. The memory that stuck with me the most was when I was 8 years old, my father was having his nightly "meetings" again, my mother tried to confront him about this. My dad got so fed up and dragged my mother to the bedroom, and he looked at me and said "get out of the room.". I ran as fast as I could to the hallway hearing the sounds of my mother's cries and screams. The moment I came back, my mothers face was black and blue, completely bloodied. My mother told me "This is how your father really is." And there, I told myself I'd be my mother's knight and shining armor. After I made sure my mom was asleep, I went to investigate my own dad. I saw him, in the kitchen drinking by himself laughing manically. Ever since then, my perspective of my father completely broke. So it hurts so fucking much to see people and even a friend talk about that they've gone through a certain thing when theirs was nothing compared to what it actually is.
