TW: MILD ANIMAL ABUSE MENTIONED/SLIGHT DESCRIPTION *Names have been changed* I am in a relationship with someone. Well, I mean obviously I could just say "my boyfriend" but saying that feels weird. I've only been talking to him since August 6th, and we started dating on August 31st. About a week ago, so around Sep 20th, I was at his house. He lives with his roommate, but that's it. I had met his roommate previously and he seemed, by all accounts, chill. so anyways, about a week ago me and my bf were in his bedroom, just watching some random crime show. His roommate was in the living room. his roommate has a dog, who we will just call Rocky for story purposes. so, I heard Rocky start yelping. badly. but, when my dog was a puppy she would yelp like that from separation anxiety, so I figured that's what it was. but, when it didn't stop I asked my bf what happened. "Oh, Jace is probably just bopping Rocky on the nose for peeing or something." but, no dog would be making those sounds from a "bop". so, I got up and went to the living room and my bf followed me. Jace had the puppy (3 ish months) held down on the back of his neck onto the floor, and was hitting him with his leash. I didn't know what to do, so I went outside and called my mom. I begged her not to call the cops because I was afraid Jace would be mad. but she did anyways. so when the cops pulled up and tried to talk to me I was terrified, and crying too hard to give them a coherent story, so my mom had to. the cops went inside and checked rocky, and he wasn't bleeding, limping, etc. so they did nothing. they left, and my mom took me home. I started spamming my bf begging him to not break up with me/be mad at me. In hindsight, I should have forced myself to calm down enough to tell the cops what happened. but I was so worried abt losing my bf, which ik shouldn't come before the life of an innocent puppy but I didn't know what to do.
