Stupidity and incompetence are features of failing minds but they are not akin to madness. I see the glorification of madness as if it's just "quirky", "unique", or "funny". The deadpool character is one that people refrence. Madness is horror and mania. The mania is sometimes pleasant but stupidity and arrogance in that stupidity are very common. There is encouragement for ignorance in groups of failures who could choose to improve themselves but instead choose to be praised for vapid and meaningless behavior. The difference is that I will say and do silly things that bring laughter to people who are not my friends. I see the joy on their faces and I don't need praise for what I've done. Their laughter and smiles are enough. Madness though is dark and confusing. It's not "sassy" because madness is often alone in the dark away from others. It's not some entertaining trait to garner praise in a social group. I understand madness. I've seen it. I've been afflicted by it. The voices that aren't really there singing even as I try and fail to fall asleep. I am better now but I understand madness. I understand that it is not a low quality re-creation of what is seen in media.
