Currently I had some new friends this semester as a collage student. When meeting my current friend group, the more I stayed with them the more I felt that I have different morals in art than them and they project themselves. as a new writer and time and time again if I had a new story and I'd ask both of my friends opinions (they write a lot) about the story and character they usually said to me "these characters would be good if they are gay." The characters only have 2 sentence in dialogue and they don't seemed to have much contact and both of my friends over sexualize my male characters by giving them skimpy outfits in my story that I wanted to write professionally, I did told them both that it's not gay since it's psychological horror... I told them that I won't be doing it and they suddenly have no interest in the story, one said that my MC isn't too tragic. I like art generally in the sense but it kinda felt that they we're looking down on me because I'm generally optimistic to them I can't make art appealing without placing the negative emotions through it. I support vent art but it feels like every art needed to be vent art to them. Am I wrong to overthink?
