We need to stop giving eachother labels.
Racist, Homophobic, LGTBQ, Tomboy, Femboy, Corny, Nonchalant, Democratic, Republican: It's all nonsense.
Let me make this CLEAR: Labels serve importance.
HOWEVER, When we use labels to summarize ALL people from that group, we miss out on beautiful things.
Example: I am a Hispanic male. My friend is a "white supermecist." He is pretty racist, genuinely a bit 'watches too many reels' coded but we get along. It's not BECAUSE he is racist but in spite of that. He's genuinely a nice enough guy, quirky but nice. I don't take what he says to heart and we have good conversations and play sports together.
I believe the world would be a much better place if we gave even the worst people chances beyond their labels.
I talk to everybody and the best conversations I had are with people from different religions, political beliefs, factions and sexualities who kept an open mind when I asked them polite questions.
My hot take: People should stop jumping to labels and listen.
