Haircut policies?

So I'm in private school (not religious) and they have a haircut policy for boys. They aren't homophobic, as they allow trans students. However, it's either female or male whilst i indentify as a demiboy. We have an upcoming test and we need our hair to be cut. Should i ask the principal for an exception regarding my identity, or should i just follow and keep quiet?
