My aunt won't raise her kid, so I would.
My cousin is young, just YOUNG. He's an eldest child of a strict family. My mother and his mother are siblings. They're extremely alike. Grew from the same abusive house.
But now, my cousin has been ranting that his mom always screams at him when he forgets to do something, his dad hits him (smack, slap) when he makes a mistake or comes home late.
The thing that got my ass so mad was when he told me his own parents don't buy him anything. His clothes, his guitar, his school supplies, his shoes, his phone, all of it was bought and payed by him. Sure, the money comes from his allowance and his allowance comes from his parents but still, he had to wait three months to buy his guitar. And when he asked for black shoes and slacks for school they told him "Buy them yourself 'cause we certainly aren't buying those for you." And now that his phone is practically dying they only addressed the situation like "That's good. You spend so much on your phone all day anyway" and that phone bought by him has PARENTAL GUIDANCE! On a phone HE BOUGHT and PAYED FOR being CONTROLLED by his parents who HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO HELP WITH IT. And the fact that his parents can buy a digital camera, a drone, a flat screen TV, and a phone for his little brother just makes my blood boil.
Now he tells me he wants to move out. I tell him I'll help pay rent, even though I'm also still a student. But he says he'll find a job and manage someday but thanked me anyway. He's a minor. And in his own home he feels like a tenant.
I'm helping him with rent. I'm buying those shoes for him. I'm getting him that bike he wanted. I'm gonna help him escape his "home". Because I see myself in him, and I suffered and still is suffering similarly. The best I can do is help him in a way I can.
If his mother won't raise him, I will. If his mother won't spend on him, I will. If I can't escape home, he will.
My life story after this.
