Parents vs. Basic Human Decency

If your child sees you as more of an authority figure than a parent, you fucking failed. There is no reason your child should always be packing up their stuff in the living room the moment they hear your keys. There is no reason your child should have your footsteps memorized by heart. There is no reason your child should be so afraid of you that they can't tell you anything that's wrong with them. There's no reason your child should expect pain for making a mistake. There's no reason your child shouldn't know how to stand up for themselves to other adults because it's seen as disrespectful. As a parent you are probably the most important person in your child's life. You are their biggest influence. You control their dialect down to howbthey wire themselves. So if you ever thought it was ok to beat on a child for something as simple as talking back to you you're disgusting. Put your belts down and talk to your children for once. Teach your children how to communicate their feelings. Teach your child that you sre their parent. Not their dictator. Children have such little autonomy as is which is why they always want to grow up fast. To gain more control of their lives. It is not your right at all to tell them that being a kid is better than being an adult when you as their parent nitpick every single thing about them and always scream and yell. I'm not saying discipline is evil because it isn't. Children learn through consequences. What I am saying is that there's a giant lit Christmas tree line between being an asshole and being responsible for your kid.
