What happens when an image I upload is blocked?

A block means the image was found to violate our rules — by the automated media scanner, by human review, or both. When that verdict lands, the image comes down everywhere at once: from the post or comment it was attached to, from galleries, and — if it was your profile picture or cover image — from your profile too. The same file doesn't survive anywhere on the platform. A blocked or confirmed media violation also records a strike on the account automatically, and you're notified with the reason. That strike is appealable like any other: if your appeal succeeds, or a human reviewer finds the scanner was wrong, the strike is reversed automatically and any standing tag it created clears immediately. One thing that surprises people: the blocked image itself isn't destroyed. It's preserved in encrypted form as evidence — access restricted and logged — for as long as needed to report to and cooperate with law enforcement, child-safety organizations, and other proper authorities. That evidence copy can't be recovered, re-downloaded, or deleted by the account, even if you delete the post or the account itself. And a removal triggered by self-harm imagery is different by design: it never records a strike — it routes you to support instead, because a cry for help is never punished here.

Question 2

How do the profile cards and post cards work — and how do I flip one?

Your profile is a two-sided card you compose yourself. The front carries your picture, your name, your rarest honours first, and up to three panels you choose — a quote you wrote, a favourite post, your streaks, your autograph, your stats. The back is yours to design from parts: a background, a texture, a light effect, a holograph, and accessories to hang on it. Compose it in Profile → Appearance. Your card leads your public profile — it sits at the very top, just under your cover. If you're viewing someone else's profile and want to get to their content faster, the Hide card button folds any card down — that's your own viewing preference, saved on your device, and it applies to every profile you visit. And if you'd rather not show your card at all, switch off "Show my profile card" in your Profile → visibility settings: it hides the card from everyone but you, and you can still edit it. Your posts can wear a card too — open one of your own posts and choose "Dress this post" to design that post's back individually. To flip any card, grab it at or near its edge and move it — the card follows your hand in 3D — or use the flip button underneath, which always works, including with a keyboard. Parts come from the Marketplace's Card Parts department: a complete set in every family is free and stays free, more finishes are coin-priced and yours permanently, and a special few can never be bought at any price — they're earned by milestones like your first year here or a long-kept ritual, and some only reveal themselves the moment you earn them. Cards are purely cosmetic: no part changes your ranking, reach, or how reports are handled, and nothing purchasable can imitate an earned honour. And anonymity always wins: an anonymous post never wears a card or any part of one, because a distinctive card would give away who wrote it.

Question 3

What is the profile card that pops up over usernames, and the little badge next to some names?

That's the User Peek card — a quick glance at a member without leaving the page. On the web, hover over a username or profile picture for a moment; in the apps, press and hold one. The card shows their name, avatar, standing and honor tags, their newest badges, how long they've been a member, and a link to their full profile. The small emoji marks you may see right next to a username are that member's Huni Badges™ — the featured one is the badge they chose. By default we pick the most notable one automatically — the "Made amends" honor first if they've earned it, then a Founder badge, otherwise their newest badge — but it's your choice: in your account settings under Public Profile you can feature any Huni Badge™ you've earned, or hide it entirely. Anonymity always comes first: anonymous posts and comments never show a peek card or a Huni Badge™, on any platform, so a mask stays a mask.

Question 4

What are the tags next to usernames — and can I remove mine?

Accepted Answer

They are factual caution tags, so you can decide how carefully to engage. An account that is currently banned shows a "Banned account" tag for as long as the ban lasts. An account with recent moderation strikes shows an "Active strikes" tag that fades on a schedule scaled to the strike count — roughly a month for a first strike, three months at two, and progressively longer for repeat offenders, up to a fixed cap. It is a caution, never a permanent mark: positive participation (posting, commenting, and reacting within the rules) shortens the window by up to half, a new strike restarts and widens it, and a successfully appealed strike clears the tag immediately — an exonerated member carries no mark. The tag never shows WHY someone was sanctioned, only that they were; the details stay between them and the moderation team. There are two kinds of tag beside a username, and only one of them is yours. Standing tags, and the 🗯️ "In Huni Amends" marker, exist to inform other members — so you cannot hide, change or switch them off, no setting will do it, and they follow your username everywhere it appears rather than sitting only on your profile. They lift on their own: a ban tag when the ban ends, a strike tag when it decays or the moment an appeal succeeds, and the Huni Amends marker if that post is moved out or removed. That marker is not a punishment or a finding against you — it only says you have a post in Huni Amends, the space for hard and controversial subjects, however it got there. Most members carrying one brought a difficult subject to that open floor themselves and have done nothing wrong; the space is not a sanctions list. Your earned Huni Badge™ is the opposite: you pick which one to show, or none at all, under Settings → Public Profile, and that choice never touches the others.

What are the rules in Huni Amends?

Huni Amends holds two things, and most people are there for the first: the open floor — civil discussion of controversial topics like racism and hate, brought by any adult member in good standing who has done nothing wrong — and the way back, where members sanctioned for hate conduct reflect openly and the community can vouch for them. Having a post in Huni Amends is never a finding against you; it says which room the post is in, and nothing more. The rules, plainly: (1) Discussed, never directed. Heavy subjects are welcome as subjects; the moment words target a person or a group, that's not discussion, and it's removed and actioned exactly as it would be anywhere else on Huni. (2) The conduct floor never bends. No harassment, no threats, no calls to or celebration of violence, nothing that endangers anyone — the space's latitude covers topics, never conduct, and the zero-tolerance rules apply in full. (3) Posts are never anonymous; comments can be — with one exception. Every post in Amends carries its author's handle. Comments may be anonymous like anywhere else, unless the commenter carries an active sanction (a live ban, or strikes whose standing hasn't cleared yet) — their replies show their username too, because accountability follows sanctioned members into the discussion. And posting the open floor takes an account in good standing: adults with no live ban and no active strike standing (a cleared or successfully appealed strike reopens the door; members sanctioned for hate conduct always keep their reflection lane). (4) Expect rowdy. You accepted terms on the way in saying content here can be offensive and rowdy — sharp disagreement is part of the space, and that's exactly why entering it is a choice. (5) Transfers are human decisions. The community can vote to suggest a post belongs in Amends, but no vote ever moves anything — a person reviews every suggestion — and because posts in Amends are never anonymous, a post moved in shows its author's username from the moment it arrives, including posts that were anonymous before the move (the accountability de-anonymization every member accepts at sign-up, Terms §7c; the author is notified). (6) Reports pool before they surface. A report filed inside Amends reaches review once enough members have flagged the same thing — except grave reports (sexual content involving a minor / child safety, intimate-image abuse, doxxing, threats of violence, swatting), which reach us immediately, always, with no threshold. (7) Activity draws scrutiny. The most active voices in Amends get closer review, not a longer leash. (8) The post is tagged, and so are you — as context, not as a verdict. An Amends post carries a visible "Huni Amends" tag wherever it appears, and while it is live a neutral 🗯️ marker sits beside its author's username. Both say the same neutral thing — this content is in the hard-topics space — whether it was posted there to discuss something difficult or to own something done, and the marker lifts on its own if the post is moved out or removed. One more: members aged 16–17 are read-only — they can read everything, and posting, commenting, and voting unlock at 18.

Question 6

Why can't I see Huni Amends?

Accepted Answer

First, what you are being kept out of, because it is not what the name suggests: Huni Amends is the platform's open floor for hard and controversial subjects — any adult member in good standing can bring one there, having done nothing wrong — and it is also the way back for members owning past harm. Neither being inside nor having a post there is a mark against anyone. Now, why you can't see it: the gate on Huni Amends fails closed, so unless your account shows you belong inside, the category stays hidden rather than guessing in your favor. Here is every reason, each with its fix: (1) You're not logged in — the space never shows to visitors; log in first. (2) No age bracket on your account — set one under Settings → Age; an adult bracket opens the space once you've also accepted its terms. (3) Your bracket is under-18 and your birth year is missing — without it, Amends can't tell 16 from 13, so it stays hidden; add your birth year on the same Age page, and if it proves you're 16 or 17, the space opens read-only. (4) Your birth year straddles 16 — if you were born in the boundary year, a birth year alone can't prove your 16th birthday has already passed, so the space stays hidden until it can; add your exact date of birth on the same Age page (/account/age), and if you're 16, the door opens. (5) You're under 16 — Amends isn't available yet, and there's no override; it will be there when you're old enough. (6) You haven't accepted the space's terms — your first visit shows an acceptance screen stating plainly that content inside can be offensive and rowdy, and the space opens only after you agree, because entering is a choice. (7) You accepted an older version — when the space's terms change, you'll be asked to accept the current version before going back in. And for 16–17-year-olds: read-only means exactly that — you can read every post, and posting, commenting, and voting unlock at 18. One more boundary: Amends posts never appear in the main feed, search, or any other general surface unless you're a signed-in adult member of the space — visitors and under-18 members never meet Amends content outside the room, and at 16–17 you read it inside the category page only. We would rather hide a space than guess an age wrong; only your age bracket, birth year, and date of birth are used for this, and none of them is ever shown to anyone.

What is a Streak Shield™, and is one really free every month?

Yes — really, and for everyone. A Streak Shield™ protects your daily check-in streak: if a missed day would have broken it, an available shield is spent automatically and your streak survives. You get one shield free every 30 days — every member, free or premium, always. That free monthly shield is a standing commitment, not a promotion, and it exists for the same reason a missed day here has always been met with recovery encouragement, not shame: a streak should honor your effort, not punish your worst week. Your bank holds up to 3 at a time — and it's one shared bank: the freezes you earn at every 7-day milestone (when your bank has room) and the shields you claim or buy all land in the same safety net. Want spares? Extra shields cost 4 🪙 each — and if your bank is already full, the purchase is refused rather than charged, so you can never accidentally pay for a shield you can't hold. Shields protect the daily check-in streak only (not Huni Habits or game streaks).

Question 8

My edit window closed — can I still fix my post?

Accepted Answer

Yes — on Hunis (confessions). Once the edit window on one of your own Hunis has closed, you can spend 4 🪙 to reopen editing on that post for 60 minutes. You land in the same composer as a normal edit, and each change is quietly logged just like edits made inside the original window — reopening never lets a post be silently rewritten without a trace. A reopen covers one post for one 60-minute window; when it ends, the post locks again (you can reopen again later if you need to). Right now Edit Reopen applies to Hunis only — aspirations, diaries, and stories keep their edit window, but have no paid reopen. It's also never available on support or sensitive posts — those spaces stay free of money features entirely. If something needs correcting and coins aren't an option, the feedback widget still reaches a human who can help.

Question 9

What are the limits on new accounts — and did existing accounts lose anything?

Accepted Answer

Existing accounts lost nothing — that's the headline, and it's permanent. Every account registered before August 6, 2026 keeps its original limits forever: same upload allowance, same 24-hour edit window, no expiry, no fine print. For accounts created on or after August 6, 2026, two limits are set differently, and we'd rather state them plainly than have you discover them: (1) free accounts can upload 10 media files per day — a daily allowance that fully resets every day, never a lifetime cap — with premium upload allowances unchanged; and (2) the free edit window on posts and comments is 60 minutes, while premium members keep the full 24 hours. If a closed window catches you out on a Huni (confession), Edit Reopen lets you reopen editing on it for 4 🪙 — Hunis only for now. Upgrading raises limits; it is never required to "refill" one.

Question 10

Why was I told "too many requests"?

Accepted Answer

Almost certainly because of the network you were on, not anything you did. Like every platform, HuniWhisp rate-limits abusive traffic — but many mobile carriers put hundreds of customers behind one shared internet address, so when limits were counted per address, strangers on your carrier's network could quietly use up "your" allowance and you'd see "too many requests" for someone else's activity. We've just relaxed those limits to be much friendlier to shared mobile networks, so that message should now be rare — if you still hit it, waiting a minute and trying again is genuinely all it takes. This is separate from posting allowances, which also just went up: free accounts now get 200 posts and 20 audio posts per month (raised from far lower), with higher allowances on paid tiers; daily caps are unchanged and still reset every day. Hitting an allowance never deletes anything — your draft is safe, and the composer tells you when you can post again. And if a post of yours was blocked or removed by moderation and you think that was wrong, the Appeals Center at /appeals is the place to say your side.

Question 11

How do I link my social media accounts, and who sees them?

Accepted Answer

Go to Profile → Social, pick a platform — X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, Discord, YouTube, or Twitch — and enter your username there; the profile link is built for you. Prefer to paste your own link? That works too, as long as it’s an https link on that platform’s own domain — links on any other domain are refused for safety, so a lookalike or malicious URL can never end up on a profile. Discord is the one exception: Discord usernames have no public profile URL, so your handle shows as copyable text — though if you paste a discord.gg invite link of your own, that shows as a normal link. Linked accounts can appear on your public profile as a small "Elsewhere" row, and that’s under your control: the "Show linked social accounts on my profile" switch in Profile → Preferences is on by default, and turning it off hides them instantly without unlinking anything. You can unlink any account at any time from the same Social tab. One honest note: linking a social account is optional and identity-revealing by nature — on an anonymity-first platform, connect one only if you’re comfortable being findable there.

Question 12

Why do I need to set an age group to send messages?

Accepted Answer

Private messages on HuniWhisp are age-partitioned: under-18 members message other under-18 members, adults message adults. That boundary only works if we know which side each person is on, so messaging needs both people to have set an age group. If yours is not set, private messages stay closed until you pick one, and 18+ posts are withheld entirely (they never reach your feed or open at all — not just blurred). We ask for a RANGE only (never a document, never proof of identity) and it stays private by default — nothing age-related appears on your profile unless you opt in, and even then only on adult accounts. We would rather pause a conversation than guess someone age wrong, because guessing is unsafe both ways: guess adult and a teenager becomes reachable by grown-ups, guess minor and an adult slips into spaces meant for teenagers. Setting it takes one tap in Settings, or on the prompt at the top of the page. We removed the old Prefer not to say option for the same reason: on a pseudonymous platform an age range tells us almost nothing about who you are, but it tells our safety systems everything they need to keep the right people apart.

Can I show my age or birthday on my profile?

Accepted Answer

Yes — but only if you choose to, and only as an adult. Both switches live at Account → Age and are OFF by default: one shows your age as a plain number (exact if you’ve set a date of birth, approximate otherwise), the other shows your birthday as month and day only — the year is never displayed publicly, under any setting, because a full birth date is exactly the kind of detail that can unmask someone on an anonymous platform. Your date of birth itself is never required: it stays an optional field, kept private, used to keep your age accurate and to power features that genuinely need it. And there is a hard safety rule on top of your choice: the switches only take effect on adult (18+) accounts. A member under 18 — or an account whose age we aren’t sure of — never shows age or birthday publicly, even with both switches on. On your own profile a small 🔒 marks anything only you can see.

Where can I use HuniWhisp?

HuniWhisp lives in three places. The website at huniwhisp.com is the fullest way to experience HuniWhisp — every feature arrives there first, it works on any phone, tablet, or computer, and you can install it straight from your browser for a full-screen, app-like feel. The Android app on Google Play and the iOS app on the App Store wrap that same experience with native comforts (note: the iOS App Store lists HuniWhisp as 18+ under Apple’s rating rules, while the website welcomes members 13 and up as our Terms describe). You may also spot a small card suggesting a platform you haven’t tried yet — it knows when to be quiet: once you’ve used HuniWhisp on more than one platform it never appears again, and dismissing it snoozes it for a good while. A pointer, never a nag.

What is a Huni Time Capsule™?

A Time Capsule is a private note to a later version of you. You write it, choose how far ahead it should travel — 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years — and pay Huni Coins to seal it (25 🪙 for a month, up to 300 🪙 for five years; a longer wait costs more because the wait is the thing you’re buying). The moment it’s sealed it is locked: it cannot be opened, edited, or cancelled — not even by you — until its delivery date passes and it unlocks on its own. Only the title you gave it stays visible while it waits, so your shelf shows what’s coming without spoiling it. Capsules are yours alone (nobody else can ever read one), the contents are encrypted at rest, and the text is safety-scanned before sealing rather than years later with nobody watching. There is no early opening and no refund — that one-way seal is the whole product, so write it like you mean it.

What is Sponsor a Stranger™?

It’s a way to spend Huni Coins on somebody else instead of yourself: you pay the current Huni Plus monthly price in coins and a month of Plus lands on another member’s account. You can sponsor a random active free member, or the author of a post that moved you. It is double-blind on purpose — the person who receives it is told only that a stranger sponsored them (no name, no handle, no post, no way to reply or thank you), and you’re told the gift landed and nothing else; in random mode we never tell you who received it. Sponsoring is blocked on Huni Haven and support posts — those spaces stay free of money features — and there’s a cap of 5 sponsorships a day per account so it stays a kindness and not a growth tactic.

What is the Huni Marketplace, and what do profile themes do?

The Marketplace (/marketplace) is our storefront for cosmetic extras bought with Huni Coins. Its first department is profile themes. A theme redecorates your own public profile page — accent colour, banner gradient, and a soft card tint — and nothing else: it is not the site-wide light/dark theme, so applying one never changes how the rest of the app looks for you or for anyone visiting. Four themes are free for every member; five are coin-priced (150–250 🪙) and unlock permanently once bought, so you can swap freely between everything you own. And cosmetics stay cosmetic: a theme carries zero weight in ranking, reach, feeds, or moderation. Nothing in the Marketplace can buy you visibility.

Question 18

How do I unlock a post cover that costs Huni Coins?

Accepted Answer

Six of the fourteen post covers carry a Huni Coin price — Candy 60 🪙, Sunset 80 🪙, Bloom 100 🪙, Ember 100 🪙, Cosmos 120 🪙, and Aurora 120 🪙. Unlock one in the Huni Marketplace (/marketplace), or simply tap its 🔒 swatch in the composer and we’ll take you straight there. Paying is a one-time thing: the cover unlocks permanently and is yours to put on every post you write from then on — it never expires, never needs renewing, and you can swap freely between everything you own. Covers are cosmetic and nothing else: a paid cover carries zero weight in ranking, reach, feeds, or moderation, so nobody can buy their way up a feed with one. Like every purchase on HuniWhisp, unlocking a cover is 18+ — which is exactly why eight covers stay free for everyone, with at least one in every mood. Members under 18, and members who haven’t set an age group, can’t earn or spend coins at all, so a free cover in every mood keeps the feature open to them.

Question 19

What are Content Effects, and do they run out?

Content Effects are small decorations you can add to one of your own posts with Huni Coins. There are four: 🎉 Confetti Pop (60 🪙), ✨ Sparkle (80 🪙), 🔥 Flame Border (100 🪙), and 🌟 Golden Glow (120 🪙). They used to be a 7-day rental — they aren’t any more. An effect is now a permanent unlock on that one post: buy it once and it stays there for as long as the post does, with no timer counting down and nothing to renew. (Two older effects, Crystal Frame and Golden Comment, have been taken off the shelf. Nobody had ever bought either one, so no member lost anything.) Effects are decoration only — zero weight in ranking, reach, feeds, or moderation — and buying one is 18+, like every coin spend.

Can I print or save my Huni Story as a book?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and the basic version is free for every Story author. The free edition is a clean, ad-free print layout of your typed sections that saves straight to PDF from your browser’s print dialog, with a small “Made with HuniWhisp” footer. If you want it to feel like a real book, the Keepsake Edition is a one-time 150 🪙 unlock for that story: it adds a cover page, an optional dedication, a chapter contents list built from your story’s headings, refined print typography, and drops the footer. The unlock is permanent, so re-printing is free forever after. Only the author can export a story — nobody can print somebody else’s — and an anonymous story always prints as “Anonymous”.

How do I appeal a strike, a removal, a group action, or a block?

Accepted Answer

Open the Appeals Center at /appeals. Four things can be appealed there: a strike on your account, something of yours that was removed or hidden by moderation, a group enforcement action, and a block by another member. You get one appeal per action — an appeal is a reply, not a channel — so say what we (or they) missed the first time. Strike, removal, and group appeals go to our admin queue and come back marked granted or denied, usually with a short note; our 24-hour promise on safety work covers them. A block appeal works differently: it goes as one short, quiet message to the person who blocked you, and they can unblock or simply ignore it. You will never be told which they chose and you cannot send another, so a block appeal shows as “Sent” forever rather than granted or denied — a read receipt on a block appeal would just be a way of finding out whether someone who asked you to stop is still reading. Every appeal is safety-scanned before it is stored, and stored encrypted, the same way direct messages are. Account bans keep their own long-standing appeal flow, which /appeals links you to.

What is Huni Keeper™ — is an AI moderating my posts?

Accepted Answer

Huni Keeper™ is our human-supervised moderation assistant. It studies the moderation decisions our human team has already made, spots new violation patterns emerging on the platform, and proposes them to our moderators — and nothing it learns takes effect until a human adopts it. It now also runs on a schedule our admins set (anywhere from hourly to weekly, or manual-only), and on each pass it reads a small batch of already-flagged posts in full — the whole post plus what our image scan found, instead of matching fragments — and does exactly one of six things with each: mark it clear so it leaves the human queue, route it to support (softening the post into our support lane and sending the author a warm note), add the NSFW (18+) tag to mature content posted without one (the post stays up, just blurred in feeds until readers opt in), place a tap-to-reveal sensitivity screen over a graphic image (the words stay fully visible), escalate it and page every admin — or, in one tightly-bounded case, decide a removal the automatic scanner has itself PROPOSED: since 2026-08-28, a scanner match outside the never-negotiable illegal floor (child sexual content, grooming or predatory behaviour toward a minor, credible violence threats, terrorism, human trafficking — those are removed immediately) no longer hides anything on its own. The post STAYS UP until the Keeper has read it in full, and only that read can confirm the removal — with a plain-language reason the author is told, an appeal path, and a person able to reverse it — or refuse it, in which case the post simply stays. That is its entire action vocabulary. And when the flagged item is a COMMENT, the Keeper reads the whole conversation around it — the post and the nearby replies — so sarcasm, quoting someone to disagree, and in-jokes between friends are not mistaken for violations. Beyond confirming a removal the scanner itself proposed — never on its own initiative — it can never remove, hide, or delete content; and it can never issue a strike, never suspend an account, and never de-anonymise anyone — and it never reads your direct messages at all. (It may SEND you one: when you’re not subscribed to update emails, the Keeper — acting as our maintenance administrator — delivers platform maintenance and update announcements as a one-way message. Sending is not reading: it drops off the note and never sees your messages, or anything you write back.) Every triage decision it makes is logged for admins and is reversible by a human. It also tends the support inbox: simple questions the guides already answer may get an instant reply from the Keeper — always clearly labeled as automated, and replying to it routes your next message straight to a human. Anything complicated or sensitive (bugs, payments, legal, account security, reports, safety-flagged messages) is never auto-answered. Every enforcement decision on HuniWhisp is still made by a person — the Keeper just helps them see things sooner, and gives a post that was fine a way out of the queue faster.

Why did Huni Keeper™ message me?

Because you’re not subscribed to update emails — so Huni Keeper™, acting as our maintenance administrator, delivered a platform announcement to you in-app instead. That’s the only kind of message it ever sends: maintenance notices and the What’s New update batch, the same news that email subscribers get in their inbox (every announcement also lives on the What’s New page). It’s strictly one-way. The Keeper never reads direct messages — including anything you type back into that thread — so a reply there won’t reach anyone; if you need a human, use the support page. Prefer these by email? Turn on the platform-updates email setting in Profile → Preferences → Notifications — it’s its own switch now, separate from follow digests and promotional email — a verified email is required, and every update email carries a one-click unsubscribe that turns off update emails and nothing else. Members under 18 always receive updates in-app: we don’t send bulk email to minors.

Question 24

What emails does HuniWhisp send, and how do I turn each kind off?

Four kinds — and three of them are yours to switch off. (1) Service and security emails: verification codes, password resets, login alerts, receipts, moderation and policy notices. These are the plumbing of your account, and they’re the only kind you can’t unsubscribe from while your account is active. (2) Follow digests: new posts from people you follow. (3) Platform updates: the What’s New batch and maintenance notices. (4) Promotional email: the occasional we-miss-you or come-back note. Each of the last three has its own switch in Profile → Preferences → Notifications, and each switch governs only its own kind — turning one off never touches the others. Two behaviors worth knowing. Turn off update emails and the news still reaches you: Huni Keeper™ delivers the same announcements in-app instead — every announcement arrives through exactly one channel, never both — and everything always lives on the What’s New page. Turn off promotional email and it simply stops: no in-app substitute, no workaround — silence is what that switch promises. And members under 18 never receive bulk email at all: updates reach them in-app, always.

Are there card parts you can only find by accident?

Yes, and we are not going to tell you where. Every so often, while you are moving around the ordinary parts of Huni, a small object is sitting in the corner of a page — a pressed clover, a shell, something that moves. Tap it and it is yours: a hidden card part follows, free, and it can never be bought at any price. A few rules we will state plainly, because they are the point. Each object can be found once per person, ever, and at most one turns up in a day, so there is nothing to farm. You cannot buy, trade, gift, roll or speed up a find — there are no packs and no chances-for-coins, and there never will be. Objects are never placed in Huni Haven, support, crisis, private messages, reports or the 18+ space; a bit of delight has no business in a room somebody entered because they were struggling. There are also one or two parts for simply being a regular somewhere — quiet familiarity with a space, built up by coming back rather than by staying long: the time that counts is capped each day, so a four-hour sitting counts the same as twenty minutes, and only returning across many days gets you there. You will not find a progress bar for any of this anywhere, on purpose: a visible meter would turn a nice surprise into a chore, and we would rather you forgot the whole thing existed until something turns up on a page.

What does promoting a post actually do?

An active promotion gives your post a real, bounded lift in trending feeds — the home feed and tag pages — for each day it runs, with stronger tiers lifting more. Three honest limits, by design. First, the lift is capped: no promotion tier can outrank the platform’s safety systems, so a post our safety tooling has reduced stays reduced no matter what was paid. Second, it’s disclosed: every promoted post carries a small “Promoted” label wherever it appears, so readers always know. Third, it never changes who can see your post — visibility, anonymity, and audience are untouched; only its height while trending moves. The views and opens your promotion earns show on your dashboard. Sensitive spaces stay money-free: posts in Huni Haven, support-routed posts, and posts under safety flags can’t be promoted at all. (If you bought a promotion before August 20, 2026: a wiring fault meant those promotions delivered no lift — that’s fixed now, and we’ve said so plainly in What’s New. Why can’t I buy premium, tip, donate, or advertise inside the app?

Why can’t I message this person? (the age firewall)

Direct messaging on HuniWhisp is age-partitioned to protect younger members: members under 18 can only exchange DMs with other under-18 members — adults can’t message minors and minors can’t message adults, in either direction. It’s a hard boundary enforced on our servers, so the conversation can’t even start. It works off your age group, and you can optionally add a private date of birth (never shown to anyone) so your age stays accurate — the day you turn 18, your account rolls over automatically and adult messaging opens up. This sits on top of the safety scanner (including grooming detection) and your block/report tools.

My username was changed by HuniWhisp — why? And what is “Also known as”?

Accepted Answer

If your username, display name, or bio broke our rules (most commonly a slur — including disguised spellings, which our filter sees through), a platform sweep or a moderator replaced it with a neutral auto-generated name. You’ll have received a notification explaining why, a strike may have been recorded, and you can pick a new compliant name any time — or appeal by replying to the notification. Separately, profiles can show recent former usernames as “Also known as”, so nobody escapes their reputation by renaming; a former name that was itself offensive is never shown publicly. If we got it wrong, tell us — mistaken actions are reverted in full: name restored, strike voided, and an apology sent.

What is a streak freeze, and what happens if I miss a day?

Your daily streak now has a safety net: a streak freeze. If you miss a day, an available freeze is used automatically to protect your streak instead of resetting it to zero — so one busy day won’t wipe a long run. One freeze covers one missed day. You earn a freeze automatically at every 7-day milestone (when your bank has room), and when a freeze rescues your streak you’ll see a “❄️ Streak freeze used — your streak is safe!” note on your next visit. Freezes and Streak Shields™ share one bank of up to 3: the shield you claim free every 30 days — always — or buy for coins tops up the same safety net your earned freezes fill (see the Streak Shield FAQ). Only when that bank is empty does the streak reset — and even then it’s met with recovery encouragement, not shame. It’s timezone-stable (counted in UTC) and works the same on the website and the app.

Why is an image blurred with a “Sensitive content” screen, and what gets removed?

Images that show self-harm, fresh wounds, scars, blood, or graphic violence are placed behind SensitiveGate™ — an all-ages sensitivity screen. The image is blurred for everyone (no matter their age) and only shows after you deliberately tap “View anyway”, with crisis-support links right on the screen. The post’s words are never hidden — only the graphic image is held back — so a cry for help is still seen and supported. We scrutinise blood and gore especially closely and would rather over-blur an ambiguous wound than surface it. The most-graphic self-harm (e.g. active cutting with visible blood) is removed from public feeds for everyone’s safety; if that’s your post, you’re not in trouble — you’ll get a supportive note explaining why and pointing you to help, and a real person checks in. To reveal a screened image, just tap it. If you’re struggling, support is one tap away at /support.

Why was my game screenshot flagged — is fictional art treated differently?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in one narrow direction — and never for child safety. A drawn, animated, rendered, or AI-generated sexual depiction of a minor is treated exactly like a photograph of one: being fictional is not a defence here, and never will be. Self-harm imagery is unmoved in either direction too, and so are hate symbols and scam or phishing images. With that settled, here is what does change. Every image you upload is queued for screening — screened before or shortly after it is visible — and Huni Depiction Sense™ asks the scan one extra question: is this a photograph, or is it clearly a drawing, render, or game screenshot (anime or manga, 3D or CGI, illustration, painting, comic, obvious digital art)? The answer never changes WHAT the scan found. It changes HOW CERTAIN the scan has to be before the platform acts on it. Clearly rendered or drawn: we require MORE certainty before acting on a weapons or gore finding — a rifle in a game screenshot is not a rifle in the room, and we would rather not treat it as one. Nudity gets no rendered leniency: explicit content is held to the same bar in every medium, drawn or photographed — with one exception. Classical and fine art (a museum statue, a classical painting) is not treated as explicit content, unless the caption or post it appears in sexualizes it, in which case the ordinary rules return. That exception never applies to any depiction of a minor, in any medium. A photograph, or an image we can’t tell apart from one — which we treat AS a photograph — we require LESS certainty on a weapons finding, and only that one, so a photographed weapon is acted on sooner than a drawn one. Not clear which: nothing changes at all, and that is also what happens if the check fails or comes back unreadable — it does nothing rather than guess. Every one of those adjustments is clamped into a fixed per-category band built into the platform, which the automated tuning is bound by as well; nobody dials these by hand. And the SensitiveGate™ blur is not relaxed by any of this: graphic media stays behind its screen whether it was photographed or drawn. If you think we simply got your image wrong, say so at /appeals.

Can I make a checklist post?

Yes — in the composer, tap "Add a checklist" and list your items. The post shows a live progress bar, and you (the author) can tick items off one tap at a time; everyone else sees your progress read-only. A checklist can be a post on its own or paired with a normal write-up.

Can I ask people for money in my posts?

Accepted Answer

No. Directly soliciting money, donations, handouts, or gifts from other members is not allowed — that includes dropping a payment handle (Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, a $cashtag), posting a fundraiser link, or writing things like “send me money,” “gift me $20,” or “anyone willing to donate.” It’s treated as spam / off-policy and is flagged and actioned when reported. Venting about money troubles or hardship (“I’m broke and can’t afford rent,” “I’m struggling right now”) is completely fine — that’s allowed emotional content, not begging. If you’d like to receive support from others, use the built-in Support feature: the “Support” button on posts and diaries lets members send you tips/donations through Huni’s own donation system, which is the only sanctioned way to receive money on the platform.

Can I share my anonymous profile?

Yes. Open your anonymous profile (/u/anon/your-handle) and use "Share profile" or the QR code. The link and its preview card show only your handle and rough activity counts — never your real name, email, avatar, or exact join date. These pages are kept out of search engines. Sharing individual posts is also visibility-aware: private, group-only, or anonymous posts can never become a public preview card or QR.

Can I read posts offline?

Turn on offline reading in Dashboard settings. A few recent public posts are then saved on your device, encrypted, so you can re-read them with no connection (look for the "Saved for offline" section). They are deleted and refreshed automatically once you reconnect, and nothing is ever stored on our servers. If you installed the app, the offline service worker also lets it open to a friendly offline screen instead of a browser error.

Your username IS your pseudonym. We do not show your real name, email, IP, or any other identifying detail — every post and comment is labelled with the username you chose at sign-up. So pick a username that nobody can connect back to you: avoid your real name, email handle, work nickname, or any handle you use on Twitter/Reddit/Instagram. We have taken extensive measures (no name fields, no public emails, encrypted PII at rest, no cross-platform linking) but there is always a small residual risk if you choose a username someone recognises.

What is Private Mode and how do I turn it on?

Private Mode restricts your direct messages to confirmed friends only. When it is on, anyone who is NOT in your friends list cannot start a new conversation with you or send a new message in an existing conversation — though existing conversation history stays visible to both sides. Strangers can still read your public posts; this only affects DMs. Toggle it from Profile → Preferences → Privacy. Default is OFF.

What does my public profile look like and what controls it?

Does HuniWhisp use my location to recommend content?

Only in the coarsest way, and never to track you. Some surfaces — like "Hot right now in your area 🔥" or "Spotted near you 👀" — flavor what is recommended using the broad region your connection suggests: think country or wide area, never a street, an address, or GPS coordinates. We don't collect precise location, we don't follow you around, and your region is never shown to other users or attached to your posts. If you use a VPN, you are never blocked or restricted in any way — you'll just see a one-time friendly note explaining that recommendations follow the region your connection appears to come from, so they may match your VPN's location rather than your own. VPN on or off, HuniWhisp works the same.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification unlocks content creation features like posting hunis, creating groups, writing stories, and starting diaries. You can browse, read, react, and follow without verifying. Check your email for a 6-digit code after signing up, or request a new one from the banner at the top of the page.

I can't verify my email — the code never arrives or never works. What do I do?

Work down this ladder — each step fixes the most common cause. 1) Check your spam or junk folder and search your mail for "HuniWhisp"; on Gmail also check the Promotions tab. 2) Make sure the address on your account is really yours: a one-letter typo means the codes are going nowhere. You can fix it yourself under Settings → Email — no need to make a new account — and a fresh code goes to the corrected address. 3) Always enter the code from the NEWEST email; requesting a new code makes older ones invalid. 4) If it still fails, the verify box will offer "Having a hard time verifying?" — say yes, and we automatically check for blockers on our side (like an address our mailer has stopped sending to after a past bounce) and can issue a fresh code with a longer 30-minute window. 5) Still stuck after that? The same box offers to escalate to Huni Keeper, our support assistant: you type the email you believe your account uses, and it is compared securely on our side — we never show or reveal the address on file. If it matches, the Keeper hands your request to our team along with everything it found (how long the account has existed, whether our delivery records show your codes bouncing, what the help flow already tried), and a real person makes the call. The Keeper never verifies or refuses anyone by itself — that is deliberate, because an automated shortcut here would be the easiest door in the building to pick. You will get a notification with the outcome, usually within a day or two. You can also always message support from the feedback button — verification questions are something we can nearly always sort out.

What happens if an admin resets my password?

A super-admin can issue a temporary password if you contact support locked out. You will receive the temporary password by email and all your existing sessions will be signed out. On your next login the app will force you through the change-password flow before you can use anything else — pick a new password that is different from the temporary one.

How long before I get signed out for inactivity?

Ten minutes by default. If you sit on a long-read page — a confession, a diary, a story, a bookworm review, an aspiration, or the About, Terms, and Guides pages — the timer is bumped to twenty minutes so you don't get kicked out mid-read. Any touch, scroll, mouse move, keypress, or finger swipe resets the timer back to zero, so genuine activity keeps you signed in.

Why did a box appear asking me to confirm the rules before my post went live?

Accepted Answer

Because the wording of that draft rated as sitting close to one of our rules — things like harassment, slurs, sharing someone's private details, or threats. When that happens we show you which rule areas came up, restate what those rules actually say, and ask you to confirm your post follows them before it publishes. You can always still post: this is a moment to reconsider, not a wall. It also is not a ruling that you broke anything, and getting past it does not mean your post was approved — reports and moderation work exactly as they always did. Two things worth knowing. First, the check reads the words in your draft and nothing else: it does not identify you, does not de-anonymize you, and does not change who can see the post. Second, we never show this for posts about self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or being in a dark place. Those are deliberately excluded from the rating, because writing about them is allowed here and treating it as a possible violation would be exactly the wrong response — those drafts get an offer of crisis support instead. We do record that you were shown the reminder and confirmed, along with the rule areas involved but never your text, so that if the post is ever reported or appealed the reviewer can see what you were told. If you think the check fired on something harmless, post it anyway and tell us through the feedback button — a false alarm is a bug we want to fix.

How do bans and strikes work?

Huni uses automated pattern detection to flag potentially harmful content — but a pattern match alone does not take content down. Outside the never-negotiable illegal floor (child sexual content, grooming or predatory behaviour toward a minor, credible violence threats, terrorism, human trafficking — removed immediately), a flagged post stays up until it has been read in full and in context by Huni Keeper™ or a human moderator, and is removed only if that read confirms the violation — with the reason told to the author and an appeal path. Every automated decision is logged, auditable, and reversible by a person. (Pre-publication checks are the one exception to the read-first flow: a time capsule, appeal, or group submission matching the illegal tier is simply refused at sending — before anything is published — and you can reword and resend it.)

How do I report someone?

You can report any post, comment, or user by clicking the three-dot menu and selecting "Report". Choose a reason (harassment, spam, prohibited content, etc.), add optional details, and submit. Our safety scanner watches new posts for signals of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or deep mental distress. When it detects those patterns, the post is automatically routed to the Huni Haven category so the community sees it in a supportive context rather than mixed into the general feed. Nothing is removed, edited, or punished — your words stay exactly as you wrote them, your author stays the same, and the post still lives on your profile. Inside Huni Haven, viewers see a Support Post banner with quick-pick supportive comment templates, so kind responses are one tap away. If you feel a post was routed in error, you can reach out to support and we will review.

What happens when I post in Huni Haven or share something heavy?

We respond with support, not confetti. When a post shows signs of deep distress or self-harm, it's routed to Huni Haven (see the question above) and what you hear from us next is help: crisis resources beside the post, the quiet trusted-contact tool, and a community primed with supportive reply templates. Huni Keeper may also send you a one-way supportive message — clearly labeled, asking nothing of you, with no reply expected. For a couple of days afterwards we also quiet the confetti: badge fanfare, promo offers, and other celebratory pings pause, because a party horn is the wrong sound in a hard moment. Anything you earn during that time still lands on your account quietly — only the celebration ping is skipped — what you earned shows on your profile and account as usual. None of this is ever announced, shown on your profile, or visible to anyone else, and none of it is a penalty or a mark against your account.

How do I share a crisis-support link when commenting on a post about distress?

When you comment on a post that shows signs of self-harm or distress, the support panel above the comment box offers a one-tap "Add crisis support link" button — and everyone gets it, not just admins. Tapping it drops a warm lead-in plus a crisis-support link straight into your reply, so you can offer help without hunting for the right words or the right URL; you can edit the text before you send. The link points to HuniWhisp's crisis resources (988 / Find a Helpline and more), and those resources are always available anyway — beside posts about distress, pinned at the top of Huni Haven, and on the Guides page — whether or not you're signed in.

Why did I get an error trying to post something I tried before?

Accepted Answer

If our safety scanner has already flagged the exact same content from your account, trying to submit it again is blocked and we show you a clear explanation — what categories tripped the scanner and when it was first flagged — so you understand why it isn't going through. It's not a silent failure and it isn't random. If you think the flag was a false alarm, tweak the wording or reach out to support and we will take a look. Note: posts that fall into the support categories (self-harm or distress) are still routed to Huni Haven so the community can offer support — those aren't the ones being blocked.

Will I be told if my post gets deleted as spam?

Accepted Answer

For unambiguous spam, no. Admins can hard-delete a post (and everything attached to it — reactions, comments, bookmarks, votes, and tags) without sending the author a notification or an apology. This is reserved for clear spam, not for borderline calls or content disagreements — those still go through the normal review and notification flow. The reason is simple: a notification trail for spam is just more noise for the spammer, and silent removal is faster and cleaner for the community.

A HuniWhisp admin messaged me about one of my posts — is it real, and do they know who I am?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes our team needs to reach the author of a post — to ask about a report, explain a moderation decision, or check in on a safety concern. Admins can open a conversation with the author of any post, including fully anonymous ones, and two guarantees always hold. (1) Your anonymity is preserved: the conversation never shows the admin your username or profile — to them you are simply "the author of this post," and nothing in the thread links back to who you are. (2) Every genuine admin conversation opens with an official notice pinned at the top of the very first message, telling you it is an official message from a HuniWhisp admin about one of your posts and that your identity stays anonymous in the conversation. That notice is how you verify it is real — staff will never contact you about your posts without it, and will never ask for your password. If someone claims to be an admin in an ordinary message without the notice, treat it as impersonation: share nothing and use Report.

How does HuniWhisp check links in comments?

Every time someone drops a URL into a comment, HuniWhisp scans it at the moment it's written and shows a small safety badge next to the link telling you whether it looks safe, suspicious, or dangerous. The badge sits right on the chip so you can decide before you tap. The verdict is stored with the comment so it's there even if you come back days later. URLs in comments also auto-detect into tappable chips with no tracking parameters attached.

A YouTube video in a comment — will it auto-play sound at me?

Accepted Answer

No. When a comment links to a YouTube video, HuniWhisp embeds the player inline but starts on a poster image with the sound off. To hear audio you tap a small "play with sound" gate first, so a stranger's video can never blast at you mid-scroll. There's also a "Don't play" path that just keeps the poster image visible if you don't want to load the video at all.

What kinds of posts are blocked outright by the scanner?

Accepted Answer

A small list of illegal categories is blocked at submit time, not held in a queue. The list includes: child sexual content and grooming, human trafficking, terrorism planning, credible imminent threats of violence, selling drugs, selling weapons, and solicitation of commercial sex. These are blocked because they're illegal in virtually every jurisdiction — not because we disagree with them. You can still write a confession, story, or diary about these topics; what isn't allowed is setting up the deal itself. Distress and self-harm content is treated very differently — it's never punished and gets routed to Huni Haven where the community can offer support.

Are my direct messages scanned for safety?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but in a careful, narrow way. The same automated safety scanner that runs on posts and comments now also runs on direct messages — looking for the same serious patterns: selling drugs, selling weapons, commercial-sex solicitation, human trafficking, credible threats of violence, signs of self-harm or distress, and predatory advances. The scan happens in the background after you press send and never blocks you from sending. It reads the plaintext copy of your message before it's encrypted at rest, so your encrypted-at-rest copy stays encrypted. The scanner does not read benign chit-chat into anything — it triggers only on the fixed pattern set. If something flags a sensitive-info category (PII shared, doxxing, swatting risk, predatory move, blackmail/extortion), both you and the other person get a heads-up notification so the receiver knows to read carefully and the sender knows the message has been flagged for review.

I got a "safety warning" notification — what does that mean?

Accepted Answer

If our scanner flags a direct message you sent or received for sharing personal information (a home address, phone number, full name + workplace, financial data, or similar), we send a quick notification to both parties. The sender gets an explanation of why sharing that content can be risky — for example, it could be screenshotted and forwarded — and that the message has been flagged for review. The receiver gets a warning shown above the message bubble itself, so they know to read carefully and not share their own personal info in reply. The message is not deleted; we want both people to see exactly what was sent. If the flag was a false alarm, you can keep chatting — but please use Report if you think the other person was trying to harm you.

How do I file an authority report through the Evidence Vault?

Open /safety/report and tap "Start a new report." You go through a short wizard: (1) pick the authority category (police, cybercrime, NCMEC, domestic violence, school safety, mental-health crisis, or other), type the recipient name in free text (for example "City of X Police Department") and the jurisdiction (for example "California, USA"); (2) drag, drop, or pick the evidence files you want to attach — images, audio, video, PDFs, and plain-text statements are all supported and you can attach as many as you need; (3) write a narrative timeline in the editor — who, when, where, what happened, in your own words; (4) pick how the bundle should be unlocked — a printable QR code, a WebAuthn biometric (Touch ID / Face ID / Windows Hello), a passphrase, or a combination of two or more with a Shamir N-of-K threshold; and (5) tap finalize. Your browser encrypts everything with a random AES-256-GCM master key, wraps the key with the unlock methods you registered, and uploads the encrypted bundle. You can download the .huniwhisp-report file and carry it to the authority in person, by upload to their intake portal, by courier, or by sharing a one-time link. The reporter UI is mobile-friendly and works inside the HuniWhisp mobile app.

Who can unlock a finalized authority report, and can HuniWhisp read it?

Accepted Answer

Only someone holding the unlock token(s) you registered when you finalized the report can decrypt it — and the decryption happens entirely in their browser, on the unlock page at /safety/report/[id]/unlock. If you registered a QR code, whoever holds the printed QR can unlock. If you registered a WebAuthn biometric, only the device with that registered authenticator can unlock. If you registered a passphrase, only someone who knows it can unlock. If you required a combination (Shamir N-of-K, for example "QR and biometric required" or "2 of 3 across QR, biometric, and passphrase"), the recipient needs the threshold number of tokens to reconstruct the master key. After you tap finalize, HuniWhisp does NOT hold the master key and cannot recover the report's contents. Our servers serve the encrypted bytes when the unlock page asks for them; the master key is reconstructed from the unlock tokens in the recipient's browser and never travels to us. The trade-off is that if every unlock token you registered is later lost — a destroyed QR printout, a forgotten passphrase, a wiped device — the report is permanently inaccessible. Keep at least one unlock token (or a Shamir threshold combination) safe.

Can I edit or add to a report after I finalize it?

Accepted Answer

No. Finalize is the lock — once a report is finalized, its evidence files and narrative are encrypted and cannot be edited, removed, or added to. This is on purpose: a report that could be silently rewritten after the fact would be useless as evidence. If you spot something missing right after finalizing, the cleanest path is to start a second report that references the first one in its narrative ("supplement to report ID …") and finalize that. While a report is still a DRAFT (before you tap finalize), you can freely add, replace, or delete evidence and edit the narrative; the composer autosaves as you work. You can also discard an entire draft at any time before finalize. Once you do tap finalize, the only state changes left are: mark the report as handed-over (stamps a date and locks read-only), download the bundle again, or let the report expire at the end of its retention window. Finalized reports are retained for 365 days by default before expiration, so download the bundle for your own records as soon as you finalize.
